A deer's coffin bone, the bone inside it's hoof, replicated here in solid cast bronze by my in my small Maryland studio. The textures are captured beautifully and highlighted with a sulphur patina. It's been strung on a hand cut deerskin leather strap, tied with adjustable knots.
Many years ago a young deer was killed on the road outside my neighborhood. Its body sat off the road in a yard, decomposing, as the neighbors tried to pretend it didn't exist. One day I decided to collect the deer and cleaned the bones. This coffin bone was one of them.
Bronze will tarnish naturally over time, I suggest cleaning them periodically with a jewelry polishing cloth when you want to bring back the original shine. These sorts of cloths remove tarnish but leave the dark patina in all the nooks and crannies that bring out textures and details. Tarnish removing liquid solutions will remove both tarnish and patina.
Measures 1 1/4" long by 3/4" wide.
If you'd like a cotton cord or gunmetal chain instead of the leather, let me know and I'll be happy to make the swap.
